The Town of Oliver is looking for an energetic person to fill a seasonal Labourer I position. Under the supervision
of the Manager of Public Works, the seasonal Labourer I is responsible for:

• Operating motorized and hand operated mowing equipment to cut grass and weeds at municipal
• Weeds and cultivates landscape areas
• Cleans sidewalks of dirt, litter and snow both manually and with equipment such as broom, hand tongs,
shovel and tractor to maintain the visual appeal of sidwalks and public safety
• Performs cleanup duties on municipal land, public buildings and public works facilities such as water and
wastewater facilities
• Digs trenches, grave sites and irrigation trenches with hand shovel
• Under the work direction of the Equipment Operator, Utility Operators or Service Worker, assists with
the installation or repair of water and sewer lines, storm drains, culverts, and drainage ditches
• Operates the chipper machine and other equipment during the residential pruning pick-up
• Prunes shrubs, hedges and trees as directed by the Manager of Public Works
• Performs other related duties as required.

Qualifications will include:
• Grade 12 or equivalent
• Valid BC Driver’s License Class 5

This will be a full time 5 days per week (8 hours/day) until the end of the peak summer season or as needed. The
hourly wages start at $23.98.
